WHAT ARE THE PRICES?

Our sessions start at £12 per person for entry which includes dog interaction. Prices for entry vary dependent on Peak Prices and Special Events and refreshments are not included. School Holidays and Weekends will always be significantly more, in order to keep our prices as low as possible in Off Peak times.

DO I PAY THE SAME FOR KIDS?

Yes. Our venue is very intimate so as not to overwhelm our dogs and to guarantee interaction for all our guests. Anyone entering the building is charged the same fee as they take up one space.

WHY ARE THERE RULES FOR KIDS?

Chihuahuas are very tiny and fragile and can be more timid or reactive to children as they typically move more, move faster, make high pitched noises, pet heavy handed or try and cuddle us in and restrain. This is of course not descriptive of every child but we can’t tell our dogs not to stereotype so they instinctively respond differently just from a guests size. To keep our environment as safe, calm, stress free and fun for all involved our rules surrounding children are non negotiable. They have been designed through vigorous testing of our pack.

WHAT ABOUT CARERS?

Entry is charged the same for all guests, including carers, as our venue is so intimate. However, if you are a carer accompanying someone, please make a note in your booking in order to receive a free drink on us!

IS THE CAFE ACCESSIBLE?

Unfortunately, we are not fully accessible due to a flight of 10 steps split over two levels at our entrance. Once inside the cafe, there is an accessible toilet, with our seating being all on one level.

Our Puppy Play sessions are not suitable for anyone who is unable to sit cross legged on the floor for at least 30 minutes. All other sessions are much more inclusive and accessible so please book any other time of day if this is not easy for you.

If you have any additional needs please let us know in advance via our Contact Us form. We are more than happy to accommodate where possible!

HOW CAN I GET TO YOU?

You can find us on Frederick Street, just off of Princes Street, in the heart of Edinburgh’s city centre. We are a 10 minute walk away from Waverley Station, with many buses and trams serving Princes Street. Find us on Google Maps easily!

Please plan your journey accordingly, Edinburgh is busy all year round and we would hate for you to miss out!

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?

All you need whilst with us is a phone for some cute photos! Our dogs do shed so avoiding fully black outfits is a wiser idea. If you have other belongings with you we will stow these for the duration of your session for the safety and comfort of the dogs. Please let us know in advance if you will have more than a couple of shopping bags with you as storage space is not endless.

CAN I BRING MY DOG?

No. Only our insured animals are allowed on site. We are a resident dog cafe so we like to keep our environment as calm and stress free as possible for our working pooches! Our staff however, are more than happy to be shown photos of your adorable pooches when you visit us!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT OF A SESSION?

Sessions are 50 minutes long and the dogs are free roaming during your time with us. They pick their energy and are allowed to choose play time and lunch time but spend about 80% of their lives gently resting so our typical session interaction involves petting a sleepy Chihuahua who will sit on your lap or sprawl beside you on the sofa.  During the session you are able to order cakes and drinks if you wish and chill with your new chihuahua buddy! You can book a double session if you would like extra time with our girls (just make sure this is not over our doggy walk break at 2pm).

WHAT IF I AM LATE TO MY SESSION?

As advised on our Bookings Page, we are a timed event. Late entry is not always possible for a range of reasons as we work with live animals who we work hard to keep free of stress and many guests coming to us may have additional needs. If you arrive late you run the risk of completely invalidating your booking and not being able to gain entry, not being entitled to a refund or reschedule. We are a small independent business with a very intimate capacity so yes, moving you to another session does have a very real impact on our ability to stay open in future. Please plan your journey and understand we are not accountable for personal lateness, transport issues or sickness on the day.

DO YOU DO WALK-INS?

We only admit guests in line with our timed sessions. If we have spaces left in the room walk ins are possible but highly unlikely during busier periods such as weekends and school holidays. It’s much safer to book in advance if possible to avoid disappointment. Book here!

CAN I BUY MERCH OR MOMENTOS?

Absolutely, our girls love a photoshoot or pawtograph and we have lots of unique gifts. Some items are in our online shop for you to buy when not nearby or there is browsing time at the end of your session with us. Shop online with us here.

CAN I ORDER REFRESHMENTS?

Yes. We like to keep our dogs in mind so we only serve soft drinks and cake (alcohol could be dangerous and bacon sandwiches would be torture for our dogs to watch you eat!). Our menu changes daily for cakes but we always have a variety. When booking with us, you can pay for your drinks and cake ahead of time for a discount to order on the day!

DO YOU CATER TO DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?

Yes. We have a range of dairy alternatives for drinks and always include gluten free and vegan options on our cake menu. If you have a nut allergy or something more specific ask when in and we can assist further with our menu. However, we do not make our cakes ourselves so if you have a very severe allergic reaction to certain ingredients we can only advise but never guarantee the cross contamination from our bakers.

DO YOU DO PARTIES/PRIVATE HIRE?

Yes, for groups up to 12 persons we offer private hire. If wishing to hold a children’s birthday party please note our rules surrounding children still apply the same. For Birthdays, Hen / Stag Do’s, or any other gathering contact us with your requirements and we can tailor a quote.

HOW ARE THE DOGS CARED FOR?

Our pack all live as one family and have grown up together. They do not live on site and go home every evening with the Cafe Founder, Tanya. They have days off like any employee and the Cafe is not open 7 days for this reason. During their working day they are in charge of telling staff when it is play time and food time and move freely. Our rules in the Cafe are in place for the dogs welfare and they are never picked up or restrained by strangers. They have dog walks factored in to their day and know how to ask if they need an extra pee break. Our working dogs do all the hard work of being beautiful so they are treated with full respect and are the top priority at all times. If you want to see some of their home life just follow our social media to see inside and outside the cafe. The dogs post bath time selfies, beach walks and brush time just as much as their poses with their customers! Follow our Cafe Instagram here! Follow our pack Instagram here!

ARE THE DOGS IN THE CAFE RESCUES?

None of our girls are rescues and we would never advise putting rescues in an environment such as ours. Although our dogs and human staff make it look effortless, our dogs are working dogs and meeting lots of new friends constantly could easily be triggering or scary for rescues for many reasons. Our dogs all grew up with vigorous training, socialisation and behaviour noting from puppies so we can be confident in their nature and their happiness and healthiness.

DO THE DOGS STAY IN THE CAFE OVERNIGHT?

Our pack all live as one family and have grown up together. They do not live on site and go home every evening with the Cafe Founder, Tanya. They have days off like any employee and the Cafe is not open 7 days for this reason.

WHERE DO THEY PEE?

Our dogs go to the park like any normal dog, they do not toilet inside. The dogs do not live in the cafe and are never here unattended. They go home each evening with the Cafe Founder and their owner, Tanya – unless the staff are having doggy sleepovers!

WILL THE DOGS LIKE ME?

Chihuahuas enjoy calm energy and gentle pets – if you are too excited they will pick up on this and choose a calmer friend so reign in that excitement at our cuteness! Children have much smaller laps so if bringing a young friend please pre warn them the dogs will probably sit on the adult but still enjoy pets from them. Our dogs are free roaming so this may not be ideal for those with a fear of dogs; even though we are tiny we can bark or nip if scared.

CAN YOU ADVISE ME ON BUYING/RESCUING A CHIHUAHUA?

We are not dog breeders or involved in dog advice of any description in a professional capacity and therefore do not directly recommend breeders. If you wish to chat informally about some of our techniques for training or what sort of research we find important when deciding on getting an additional family member we are happy to chat in a purely informal, non advisory capacity.

ARE YOU HIRING?

Although we are not hiring at the moment, we advertise any chihuahua companion job opportunities firstly on our instagram. Follow us to know first!
